Tapestry
We start our lives like a blank canvas.
God calls us! Gen. 12:1-3, ‘Abram, Go….!’, Mt. 4:19, ‘Peter, Andrew Come, Follow me’.
Then the pattern is drawn on.
I will make of you a great nation. Abraham.
I will make you fishers of men. Peter.
We may not know what is Gods plan for us.
The stitching has begun. It is ordered and unfinished. 1Cor. 14:40. Every thing should be done decently and in order. Most people live in a state of chaos and confusion and therefore don’t achieve very much.
With persistence the job proceeds and eventually……..
It is finished! It is our objective and plan to complete the job. It is also Gods
Intention to complete what he has given to us to do. 2 Tim. 4:6-8, 3:17.
What is at the end of it all? The bible gives two answers.
It is either Heaven or Hell. It is up to each one of us to make our own decision.
Body = flesh and blood.
Spirit = personality, free, sad etc.
Soul = the indefinable eternal part.
The rich fool thought that his soul was temporal, not eternal. Lk. 12:19,20.
We have many misconceptions about hell.
It was created by God for Satan! Rev. 20:1,2, 13-15.
We also have misconceptions about Heaven.
The Saddusees want to know more. Jesus told them that they were ignorant! And didn’t know the scriptures. Mt. 22:29, suggests that earthly relationships will not continue in heaven. Would it be heaven looking for the family member that is not there? Would it be heaven when the four men and two women who had all been married to each other get together? Also, the Lords reply also suggests that we have no concept of the Power of God. We will be changed to be like Him. We will not be the center of attraction in Heaven, much as we might like to be. That position is reserved for the Lamb of God.
In Heaven God will be the centre of attraction.
§ Rev. 5:11-14.
§ 1 Cor. 13:12, now we see through a glass, darkly.
§ 1 Cor. 15:51,52, We shall all be changed.
§ 2 Cor. 3:18, We are being changed! The process has begun!
§ 2 Cor. 5:2-4.
§ 1 Thess. 4:16,17, voice of archangel…
§ Phil. 3:21, …who will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body.
§ 1 Jn. 3:2, It doth not yet appear…..
As we see Gods hand lead and guide us through this life and as we see the tapestry of our lives being completed we can look forward with confidence knowing that we can rely on Him who said ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’.
If we don’t know that assurance then we need to start saying ‘Yes’ to God in faith.
